Community Groups

Church isn’t a service to attend, but a community to belong to.

We believe deep transformation happens best in the context of deep relationship. We need a context of deep and loving relationships to live the gospel out together. Community groups exist to help create space for deep relationships to happen, ministry to take place, and the Word to be studied and lived out together.

Open enrollment for Community Groups will begin again in January!

COMMUNITY GROUP FAQ

  • A community group is a smaller gathering of people (usually 8-14) who meet regularly to grow together in community and the Word. We grow best when we grow together in the context of deep and loving relationship.

We believe this is God’s design. Most groups consist of a time of food and fellowship followed by study, discussion, and prayer. Email communitygroups@hccvermillion.com if you have any questions!

  • Community groups meet in homes and at Hillside various nights of the week for 1.5 - 2.5 hours. They will meet from mid-September to December for the fall session, and mid-January to May for the spring session, breaking for summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

  • Hillside’s community groups will be studying the same Biblical passages associated with the sermon series the church is going through during the Sunday gatherings. We hope this space provides room to ask questions and discuss how we can all apply the Scriptures to our own lives.

  • We do church-wide sign ups every August and January. Or you can fill out an interest form online (located above).

  • Yes! Kids are more than welcome to join your community group. If possible, we will try to plug you into a group with other families. Depending on their age, some groups and parents will have the kids meet in a separate part of the house (or church) for the discussion portion of the night. Note the Childcare Policy and Disclaimer under the resources section.
